Chen Xin is an Assistant Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Medical School of Nanjing University. He received his Ph.D. from Nanjing University in 2015. His research primarily focuses on the etiology and intervention strategies of major gastrointestinal diseases. In recent years, he and his team have made the pioneering discovery of Shigella sp. PIB and Aeromonas sp. MTB as the causative pathogens of refractory functional constipation and ulcerative colitis, respectively, and have elucidated their pathogenic mechanisms, with related patents granted. Based on these findings, they have developed targeted phage preparations and have collaborated with top-tier hospitals to conduct investigator-initiated clinical trials (IIT) for the treatment of these diseases, achieving remarkable therapeutic efficacy. His findings have been published in prestigious journals such as Science, Journal of Clinical Investigation, and PNAS.
